I moved to the city of Vladimir, Russia in August of 2005 in order to teach English at a school called the American Home. Vladimir is a fairly small city on Russia's historic Golden Ring. Depending on who you ask, the city was either founded in the 10th century or the early 12th century (historians disagree). Either way, the city is one of the ancient capitals of the Russian state, and is home to many ancient historical works of architecture, the oldest of which dates back to 1158.
